That Bat Guy I draw so rarely. A quick sketch from this morning.
Lois Lane will be getting the YA novel treatment come January from author Gwenda Bond. The book,...

If it’s good enough for Batgirl… by Rory Hensley
Dwayne Johnson has confirmed to the Associated Press that he will have a role in Warner Bros. unannounced “Shazam” adaptation. According to the article, Johnson has not decided whether he will be taking on the role of the hero or the villain, Black Adam. The actor has the playful spirit necessary to make audiences believe that he’s really a 12-year old kid in the body of a super powered god, but we’ll let him decide.
The good thing about this tidbit is that we can now be fairly certain that the “Shazam” film will feature both the hero and his arch-nemesis. We have are hopeful that this movie will be adapting Geoff Johns and Gary Frank’s spirited New 52 “Shazam” mini-series.
Lego my variant! DC Comics has been doing a fantastic job of giving us unique themes for their variant covers. In June we had the Bombshell variants and this month we have the Selfie variant covers featuring DC’s most iconic characters stopping to take a quick pic of themselves. The publisher revealed a number of their Lego variant covers in today’s solicitations. Clockwise from the top: “Justice League” #36, “Batman/Superman” #16, “Justice League United” #6, “Wonder Woman” #36, “Aquaman” #36, and “Green Lantern Corps” #36.
We don’t think we’ve seen an ice bucket challenge that we haven’t enjoyed. Scott Snyder has always seemed like a good guy, but we love who he throws the challenge to at the end of this cool clip! Okay, we’ll also admit to enjoying some of the epic fails that have come out of this incredibly viral ALS fundraiser.
If you want to avoid the ice and go straight to a donation, click here to visit the official ALS Association site.
Love. That’s all we have for this gorgeous cover for November’s “Axis: Hobgoblin” #2 by artist Javier Rodriguez.
The clock is ticking down with less than a year to go before Marvel Studios’ somewhat troubled film “Ant Man” hits theaters next summer. The studio announced today that the movie has begun shooting today in San Francisco and there hasn’t been a peep about director Peyton Reed missing his July 17th release date.
We’re curious to see what impact Hank Pym (played by Michael Douglas) will have on the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Will this be his only appearance or will he pop up in the ongoing adventures of the characters who make up this expanding world? We’ll have to wait and see just how much Reed’s take on “Ant Man” captures the public’s attention.
We sort of hope that Bats and Supes are on opposite sides for a short time in “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice”. This will allow plenty of time for them to have coffee and hang out with their new pal Wonder Woman! We still believe there’s a chance the “v” stands for “visits”.
It’s of our opinion that merging Flash Thompson and the Venom symbiote has been one of the most interesting things done for both of these characters. With Venom currently traipsing around the cosmos in Brian Michael Bendis’ “Guardians of the Galaxy”, the writer has decided to take on the origin of the alien creature that first bonded with Peter Parker thirty years ago in “The Amazing Spider-Man” #252. Beginning in November’s “Guardians” #21, by Bendis and artist Valerio Schiti (cover by Nick Bradshaw), the team will travel to a planet infested with symbiotes (which frankly sounds like a little bit of trouble).
Read more about Venom’s upcoming origin story at MTV.
“Guardians of the Galaxy” may have trailed slightly behind “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” this weekend (“GotG” raked in $24.7 Million to “TMNT”’s $28.4 Million according to Box Office Mojo), but it’s on the road to cleaning up around the globe. The film has yet to open in China, where Marvel films have enjoyed a healthy box-office (“Captain America: The Winter Soldier” earned $115 Million earlier this year). It will be interesting to see how strong this film’s legs are as it continues to open around the globe over the next month.
Did you know there was erotic “Doctor Who” fan fiction? We did, but that isn’t really the point of this post. Our buddy jawiin has created a new video featuring actor Bob Bedall reading an excerpt of some fairly raunchy “Doctor Who” fan fic! Did you know this is how “50 Shades of Grey” got off the ground? We did, but that also isn’t really the point of this post.
Face it Supes, you just hit the jackpot. John Romita, Sr. tackles his first DC Comics cover for the “Superman” #34 variant. Klaus Janson and Laura Martin have inked and colored the piece, respectively. Pretty sweet!
Marvel Studios released the final shot of “Guardians of Galaxy” (if you don’t count the after credits scene) featuring Baby Groot having a good ‘ol time as he bops to the Jackson 5’s “I Want You Back”.
This scene has us wanting to head back to the theater for another round of “Guardians”!
#standforferguson Charity Wallpaper Set, $1+
Some of you may have been hearing about what’s going on in Ferguson, MO, a suburb of St. Louis about 20 minutes from my house.
The long and the short of it is that over the weekend, an unarmed black man named Michael Brown was killed by a police officer. Since then, things have spiraled downward, into violations of basic First Amendment rights. I could go on, but you’d likely be better served looking it up yourself.
That being said, I’m offering a charity wallpaper in order to raise funds to donate to the NAACP and ACLU, as both organizations are actively working towards finding justice both for Michael Brown and his family, as well as the greater population of Ferguson.
If you cannot donate, that’s absolutely fine, but I do ask that you try to educate yourself and others as to what’s going on in Ferguson. Tyranny is real, and it is on our soil right now.

You might have heard that one of our favorite writers has a little book debuting next week. The first preview pages of the first issue of Grant Morrison’s “The Multiversity” #1 have been unleashed upon the world, whetting our appetites for next Wednesday. Take a look at the beginning of Morrison’s story (as well as a small interview with the writer) and the beautiful art from Ivan Reis in this link: http://wrd.cm/1ra0zYs
